ENERGY TAX CREDIT

On December 17, 2010, the H.R.4853 <http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-111hr4853enr/pdf/BILLS-111hr4853enr.pdf>  bill was signed by President Obama that extended the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to include the year 2011.  However, this bill did not include the extension of the energy tax credit for garage doors.

Since 2007, the IRS has allowed qualified garage doors with performance values equal to or below a U-factor of 0.30 and SHGC of 0.30 to be eligible for a tax credit.  Therefore, the garage door industry’s Door and Access Systems Manufacturer’s Association (DASMA) is considering renewing its efforts to regain the tax credit for garage doors for 2011 when the 112th Congress convenes in January 2011.
